Privacy Policy

Summary

AusRoo is a static website. It has no accounts, no logins and no forms that store data on our servers. The only personal data we process is an email you choose to send us, and aggregate analytics about visits.

What we collect

Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits, pages viewed, approximate location at city level, device type and referring site. IP addresses are anonymised. Analytics runs in a web worker and does not read anything you type. You can block it with any content blocker; the site works identically without it.

Contact email. If you email us, we keep the message and your address for as long as needed to reply and to keep a record of corrections. We do not add you to any list.

What we do not collect

We do not collect names, dates of birth, bank details, gambling activity, or anything about accounts you hold with operators. We cannot see what you do on an operator’s site after you click through.

Affiliate links

Links to operators carry a tracking parameter or a referral path so that the operator can attribute a registration to AusRoo and pay a commission. The operator, not AusRoo, processes any data you enter on its site under its own privacy policy. We receive aggregate counts of registrations and commissions, not personal data.

Cookies

Google Analytics sets its own cookies. AusRoo sets none of its own. Browser storage may hold your last sort or filter choice on the home page; it never leaves your device.

Third parties

Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts. Analytics is Google Analytics. No other third-party script runs on this site.

Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act you can ask what personal information we hold about you and ask for it to be corrected or deleted. For AusRoo that is limited to email you have sent us. Write to the address on the contact page.

Analytics in detail

Google Analytics 4 is loaded through a web worker so that it cannot read page content or interfere with the page. It records: the page viewed, the previous page or referring site, the time on page, the type of device and browser, the screen size, and an approximate location derived from your IP address at the level of a city or region. The IP address itself is truncated before storage. Google associates these events with a random client identifier stored in a cookie on your device; we do not link that identifier to any email you send us. Google’s own policy governs what it does with the data on its side.

We use the resulting reports to see which pages are read, which operators readers click through to, and where readers arrive from. We do not use analytics to build profiles of individuals and we do not run advertising on this site.

Data retention

Analytics event data is retained by Google for fourteen months, the default we have set, and then deleted. Email correspondence is kept for two years from the last message so that we can track a correction or a complaint, then deleted. Nothing else is stored.

Children

This site is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has emailed us, tell us and we will delete the correspondence.

Overseas disclosure

Google processes analytics data on servers outside Australia. No other personal information leaves Australia through this site, because we do not collect any beyond email.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Email to us is ordinary email and should not be used to send bank details, account passwords or identity documents; we never ask for them.

Complaints

If you believe we have handled your personal information in breach of the Australian Privacy Principles, email us first and we will respond within thirty days. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
